Meta Ends Suspension of Donald Trump’s Accounts
Meta will reinstate former President Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts "in coming weeks" following a two-year suspension. The Company said it will also install new guardrails to deter repeat offenses.
“We've always believed that Americans should be able to hear from the people who want to lead the country,” Nick Clegg, the company's president, global affairs, told Axios. Axios lists the rules under which Trump may return to the platform.
The former president reacted on the news with a post on his social network 'Truth Social', writing: "FACEBOOK, which has lost Billions of Dollars in value since 'deplatforming' your favorite President, me, has just announced that they are reinstating my account. Such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President..."
Trump relied heavily on Facebook ads in previous election cycles for fundraising and list-building. There are rumors that Trump's team is already preparing his return to Twitter and Facebook.
